# Reports

> Browse, manage, and schedule saved Explorer reports, recommendation schedules, and budget alerts.

The **Reports** page is your central hub for everything you've saved and scheduled across nOps: Explorer reports, recommendation report schedules, and budget alerts. Each source keeps its own tab so you can manage it without leaving the page.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Explorer" icon="chart-line" href="/inform/explorer">
    Create and refine reports from your current analysis.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Explorer Dashboard" icon="objects-column" href="/inform/explorer-dashboard">
    Add saved reports as dashboard widgets.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

## Get started

1. Sign in to [nOps](https://clara.nops.io/dashboard).
2. Open **Inform → Reports**, or go to [clara.nops.io/reports](https://clara.nops.io/reports).
3. Choose a source tab at the top: **Explorer**, **Recommendations**, **Budgets**, **Inventory**, or **Commitment Analysis** (when available).
4. Within the Explorer tab, browse scope tabs **All**, **Private**, **Shared**, or **Global** (nOps Global templates). Click a report name to open it in Explorer, or use **Create Report** to start from a blank view.

## Source tabs

| Tab | What it shows | Header action |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| **Explorer** | Saved Explorer reports across your organization | **Create Report** → opens Explorer |
| **Recommendations** | Saved recommendation views and their email schedules | **Open Recommendations** |
| **Budgets** | Budget threshold alerts across all your budgets | **Open Budgets** |
| **Inventory** | Scheduled emails for [Commitment Inventory](/optimize/commitment-inventory) filter views | **Open Inventory** |
| **Commitment Analysis** | Scheduled emails for the Commitment Management overview (when enabled for your org) | **Open Commitment Management** |
| **Business Unit Economics** | Scheduled emails for your saved [Business Unit Economics](/operate/business-unit-economics) unit models | **Open Business Unit Economics** |
| **Clara Feed** | Your [Clara Feed](/clara/feed) schedules, with a shortcut to create a new one | **Open Feed** / **New schedule** |

The Budgets tab only appears if you have access to Budgets. The Inventory and Commitment Analysis tabs appear for users who can access Commitment Inventory or Commitment Management, respectively. The Business Unit Economics tab appears if you have access to that feature, and the Clara Feed tab appears if you have access to Feed and Schedules. Viewing Inventory itself does not require Inform; scheduling inventory emails from Inventory or managing those schedules here does.

### Explorer tab

| Scope | Who can see it | Best for |
| ----------- | -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| **All** | Everyone in your org (combined list) | Finding any report quickly |
| **Private** | Only you | Personal analysis and drafts |
| **Shared** | Everyone in your organization | Team standards and collaboration |
| **Global** | All nOps customers (curated templates) | Starting from proven report setups |

The list shows **Report name**, **Created by**, **View type** (Cost, or Cost & Usage), **Date range**, **Granularity** (Hourly through Quarterly), **Scheduling** (email schedule summary, if configured), and **Actions**. Use the search box to filter by name—each tab shows **25 reports per page**.

Row actions (icon buttons): **Copy link**, **Clone**, **Create budget**, **Edit**, **Delete**, plus the scheduling cell to manage email delivery.

### Recommendations tab

Shows your saved recommendation views (**All**, **Private**, **Shared** scope tabs—there's no Global tab here) alongside their email schedules, grouped together. Search by report or schedule name. Open a saved view to jump back into the Recommendations tab of [Insights](/inform/insights) with its filters applied, or delete a view you no longer need.

### Budgets tab

Lists every budget alert across your organization in one place—no need to open each budget individually. Columns include the **budget**, its linked **Explorer report**, the **alert rule** (threshold type and value), **recipients**, and **status** (never triggered, or last triggered date). Use **Open Budgets** to manage a budget's alerts directly, or see [Budgets](/operate/budgets) for how alerts work.

## Create a custom report

1. Open [Explorer](https://clara.nops.io/explorer) and set filters, date range, group-by, cost type, and granularity.
2. Optionally switch to the **heat map** view and configure **Axes** if you want the saved report to open in that layout.
3. Click **Save report** (or use **Manage Reports → Create new**).
4. Enter a name and choose **Private** or **Shared**.
5. Optionally enable **nOps Global** if your role allows publishing templates for all nOps customers.

To customize a global template, open it from the **Global** tab and use **Clone**.

## Open and edit a report

* Click the report name to open it in Explorer at `https://clara.nops.io/explorer?report={id}`.
* Adjust filters in Explorer, then overwrite the existing report or save it as a new one.
* Use **Edit** on the Reports page to rename or change visibility, date range, or granularity. To change filters or group-by, open the report in Explorer.

## Email and schedules

From Explorer or the Reports list, open the scheduling cell or click the mail icon to send or schedule the current report:

* **Send now** — delivers immediately with a chart preview and PDF attachment. If the report was saved with the **heat map** enabled, the email shows the heat map instead of the history chart.
* **Schedule** — daily, weekly, or monthly delivery in your chosen timezone.
* **Subject** and optional **Message** for recipients.
* **Include Clara AI analysis** — Clara adds a short summary of shifts and anomalies when the email is sent.
* **Recipients** — search and select multiple organization members, or type an email address manually to add it to the list. Add or remove as many recipients as you need before sending or saving a schedule.

Recipients must be members of your organization with a Clara account, and they must already have access to the report (for example, a **Private** report can only be sent to its creator). You can't send Explorer report emails to outside addresses that aren't part of your organization.

Recommendation report schedules work the same way from the Recommendations tab. **Inventory** schedules mirror the filters saved from [Commitment Inventory](/optimize/commitment-inventory)—open Inventory to send or schedule, then manage recurring deliveries from the **Inventory** tab here. Budget alerts are threshold-triggered notifications rather than scheduled digests—see [Budgets](/operate/budgets) for the difference between a budget's email alerts and its email report digest.

## Manage reports

| Action | When to use it |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Copy link** | Copy the report's URL to share directly with a teammate who has access |
| **Clone** | Copy a report, especially a Global template you want to customize |
| **Create budget** | Start a new [Budget](/operate/budgets) using this report's dimensions  |
| **Edit** | Change name, visibility, date range, or granularity |
| **Delete** | Remove a report you no longer need |

<Tip>
  To pin a **Shared** or **nOps Global** report to your home [Dashboard](/inform/dashboard#pinned-widgets), open it in [Explorer](/inform/explorer) and use the pin icon in **Manage Reports** (admin permission required; up to 25 pins per organization).

## FAQs

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How can Group by help me find trends?">
    Group by segments costs by dimensions such as Purchase Type, Region, or Product Services Subtype. For example, grouping Compute spend by Purchase Type shows how much comes from On-Demand, Reserved, Savings Plans, or Spot—surfacing optimization opportunities.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do shared and private reports differ?">
    Shared reports appear for everyone in your organization. Private reports stay with you unless you clone them as Shared or share a direct link with someone who has access.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What role does granularity play?">
    Granularity sets the time bucket in the chart and table. Hourly helps with intraday peaks; daily and weekly balance detail and readability; monthly and quarterly highlight longer trends.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which global reports help with data transfer costs?">
    Look at **NAT Gateway - Data**, **Public IPv4**, and **Data Transfer Service** to see which regions, operations, or services drive transfer spend.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the difference between the Recommendations tab and the Budgets tab here?">
    The **Recommendations** tab manages saved recommendation views and their scheduled emails. The **Budgets** tab is a read-only, org-wide list of budget threshold alerts—open **Budgets** to create or edit an alert.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I put a report on my home Dashboard?">
    Yes. Open the report in [Explorer](/inform/explorer) and pin any **Shared** or **nOps Global** report from **Manage Reports** to keep it visible on your home [Dashboard](/inform/dashboard#pinned-widgets) alongside pinned Canvas charts. Pinning requires admin permission, and **Private** reports can't be pinned.
