# Issue creation from recommendations

> Connect work-management tools to turn nOps recommendations into trackable work.

## Overview

nOps can turn selected cost recommendations into work items in the tools your
team already uses. Organization administrators connect a provider from
**Settings → Integrations → Notifications** and choose the destination for new
work.

The connection requests only the access needed to discover destinations and
create the selected work item. nOps does not ask you to paste a provider API
key into the notification settings form. Existing connections remain available
while a workspace is being reconnected or moved to the current connection
flow.

## Provider capabilities and access

The following table describes the provider operations and minimum access
categories used by nOps. Provider consent screens may use different names for
these permissions.

| Provider | Creates | Access requested |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Jira | Issues in a selected project | Read accessible sites, projects, issue types, and user information; create issues |
| Linear | Issues in a selected team | Read accessible teams and issue settings; create issues and read the team members needed for assignment |
| GitHub Issues | Issues in a selected repository | Read repositories visible to the connected account; create issues; read available labels and assignees when supported |
| GitLab Issues | Issues in a selected project | Read projects visible to the connected account; create issues; read available labels and assignees when supported |
| ClickUp Tasks | Tasks in a selected list | Read the workspace, space, folder, and list hierarchy; create tasks; apply supported priority and assignee values |
| Notion Pages | Pages under a selected page or database | Search and read shared pages or data sources; create child pages with a title and recommendation details |
| PagerDuty Incidents | Low-urgency incidents on a selected service | Read available services and create incidents; the connected PagerDuty profile supplies the required sender identity |

The destination picker only shows resources the connected account can access.
For Notion, share the page or database with the nOps integration before
connecting it. For PagerDuty, choose a service intended for low-urgency
notifications rather than routine paging.

## Jira and Linear

Jira and Linear are available in the recommendation workflow today:

1. Open **Settings → Integrations → Notifications**.
2. Select **Jira** or **Linear**, connect the workspace, and choose a project or
   team.
3. Open **Insights → Recommendations**, select recommendations, and choose
   **Create issues**.
4. Review the destination and issue type, then create the work items.

If a connection needs attention, use **Reconnect** on its notification
integration card. The existing connection is kept as a temporary fallback
while the organization completes the new connection and verification flow.

## GitHub and GitLab cost integrations are separate

The GitHub and GitLab cards under the **Cost integrations** section of Settings
are for billing, usage, and seat data. They use provider access tokens for cost
visibility and are unrelated to GitHub Issues or GitLab Issues created from
recommendations.

Connecting a GitHub or GitLab cost integration does not connect an issue
destination, and connecting an issue-creation provider does not enable cost or
seat reporting.

## Availability

Jira and Linear are the first providers exposed in the recommendation picker.
The remaining provider adapters are being validated for their destination
pickers and create operations; availability can vary by workspace while that
rollout continues.
