Anthropic Cost Exports with nOps Platform

To integrate Anthropic with Inform, follow these steps:

  1. Create an API Key in Anthropic
  2. Set Up Integration in nOps Platform
  3. Verify Integration

Prerequisites​

Before setting up the integration, ensure you have:

  1. Anthropic Account

    • Active Anthropic account with API access
    • Permissions to create and manage API keys

  2. Required Information

    • Anthropic API key with access to usage and billing data
    • Understanding of which Anthropic services/models you want to track

Accessing Inform Integrations​

To begin, navigate to the Organization Settings and click on Integrations. From there, select Inform to proceed with setting up your Anthropic integration.

This page provides access to configure and manage integrations with your Inform tools.

The list of integrations will indicate whether there are any active integrations or if the tools are not yet integrated. Active integrations will be marked accordingly, allowing you to easily identify the current status of each integration.

How the Integration Works​

  1. API Key Creation

    • Create an API key in the Anthropic console with read-only access for usage/billing
    • Securely store and provide this key to nOps during integration setup

  2. Integration Setup

    • Enter a descriptive API Key Name for identification purposes
    • Configure the Anthropic API Key in nOps

    Make sure to keep your API key secure and never share it with unauthorized users.

  3. Data Retrieval by nOps

    • nOps uses the provided API key to fetch usage and billing data from Anthropic
    • Data is collected for all relevant services associated with your Anthropic account

  4. Data Processing

    • The retrieved data is processed and displayed within the Inform product
    • Cost information is organized by model, service type, and time period

Step 1: Create an API Key in Anthropic​

API keys are required for secure access to your Anthropic usage and billing data.

  1. Access API Key Settings

  2. Configure API Key

    • Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "nOps Integration")
    • Follow your organization’s security policy for key rotation

    For security reasons, we recommend setting a regular rotation schedule for your API key.

  3. Save API Key

    • Copy the generated API key
    • Store it securely—keys are typically shown only once

    Do not share your API key or expose it in public repositories. If the API key is lost or compromised, generate a new one and update the integration.

Step 2: Set Up Integration in nOps​

  1. Access the Inform Integrations page to begin.
  2. Select the Anthropic integration card.
  3. Click on the +Add Anthropic Integration button

Configuration Parameters​

  1. Enter API Key Name

    • Provide a descriptive name for this integration (e.g., "Marketing Team Anthropic" or "R&D Anthropic")
    • This helps identify the integration if you have multiple Anthropic accounts

  2. Enter Anthropic API Key

    • Paste the API key you copied from the Anthropic console

  3. Click Save to finish

If your organization uses multiple Anthropic accounts, repeat these steps for each account you want to track.

Step 3: Verify Integration​

After setting up the integration, you should see it listed in your active integrations.

  1. Wait for Data Synchronization

    • It may take up to 24 hours for the initial data to appear
    • After synchronization, you can access your Anthropic cost data in the Cost Analysis section

  2. Access Cost Data

    • Navigate to the Cost Analysis tool
    • Look for Anthropic as a service provider in your cost breakdowns
    • Filter and analyze costs by model, service type, and time period

Managing Multiple Integrations​

If you need to track costs for multiple Anthropic accounts or projects:

  1. Create Separate API Keys

    • Generate a unique API key for each Anthropic account
    • Ensure each key has the appropriate permissions

  2. Set Up Additional Integrations

    • Follow the same process to add each integration
    • Use distinct, descriptive names for each integration to easily identify them

  3. View Consolidated Data

    • All Anthropic integrations will contribute data to your cost analysis
    • Use filters and tags to differentiate between different accounts or projects

Troubleshooting​

  1. API Key Issues

    • Verify the key has not expired
    • Ensure it has read permissions for usage and billing data
    • Check for typos in the API key

  2. Data Not Appearing

    • Allow up to 24 hours after setup
    • Confirm there is actual billing activity in your Anthropic account
    • Verify the API key is still active in Anthropic

  3. Incomplete Data

    • Ensure the API key has access to all relevant Anthropic services
    • Check if there are any usage limits on your Anthropic account

For support, contact nOps with your API Key Name (not the actual key) and any error messages you've encountered.
