Databricks BC+ Integration
FAQs
Expand FAQs
1. How does the Databricks integration with nOps work?
The integration involves uploading Databricks billing data to an S3 bucket. nOps fetches this data using a CloudFormation stack that grants access permissions. The data is then processed and displayed within the Business Context+ platform for detailed cost analysis.
2. What permissions does the CloudFormation stack provide?
The stack grants nOps the GetObject and ListBucket permissions on the specified S3 bucket and prefix. These permissions allow nOps to access and retrieve billing files for processing.
3. How do I automate billing data uploads from Databricks?
nOps provides a Python script that extracts billing data from Databricks. You can paste this script into a Databricks notebook and schedule it as a recurring job to upload data daily to the S3 bucket.
4. How long does it take for data to appear in nOps after setup?
It may take up to 24 hours for the initial data synchronization to complete. After this period, your Databricks billing data should be visible in the Cost Analysis tool.
5. What should I do if my billing data doesn't appear after 24 hours?
If the data is not visible after 24 hours, check the following:
- Ensure the CloudFormation stack was deployed successfully.
- Verify that Databricks is correctly uploading data to the S3 bucket.
- Confirm that the S3 bucket permissions are correctly configured.
If the issue persists, contact nOps support for assistance.
6. Can I use an existing S3 bucket for Databricks billing data?
Yes, if you already have a bucket where Databricks writes billing files, you can use that bucket. Ensure it has the appropriate permissions configured for nOps access.
Integrate your Databricks billing data with the nOps platform to gain detailed insights into your cloud expenses. By setting up this integration, you can analyze your Databricks cost and usage information using the Cost Analysis tool in the nOps platform.
How It Works
-
Integration Setup
- Identify the S3 bucket in your AWS account.
- Deploy the CloudFormation stack provided by nOps to grant
GetObject
andListBucket
permissions to the bucket and the required prefix.
noteMake sure to be logged into the correct AWS account to proceed with this step.
-
Data Upload from Databricks
- nOps provides a Python script that extracts billing data from your Databricks workspace.
- Schedule this script as a job in your Databricks environment to periodically upload the billing data to the configured S3 bucket.
-
Data Retrieval by nOps
- nOps fetches the billing files from the specified bucket and prefix using the granted permissions.
-
Data Processing
- The retrieved data is processed and displayed within the Business Context+ product, providing actionable insights into your Databricks usage.
Benefits of Integration
