Twilio Cost Integration with nOps Platform

To integrate Twilio with nOps BC+, follow these steps:

  1. Create Twilio API Credentials
  2. Configure Integration in nOps
  3. Verify Integration Status

Accessing Business Context Integrations

To begin, navigate to the Organization Settings and click on Integrations. From there, select Business Contexts to proceed with setting up your Twilio integration.

Below is an example of the integrations page:
Business Context Integrations Interface

This page provides access to configure and manage integrations with your Business Contexts tools.

The list of integrations will indicate whether there are any active integrations or if the tools are not yet integrated. Active integrations will be marked accordingly, allowing you to easily identify the current status of each integration.

Step 1: Create Twilio API Credentials

Before configuring the integration in nOps, you need to create an API key in your Twilio account:

  1. Log in to Twilio Console

  2. Locate Your Account SID

    • Your Account SID is displayed on the dashboard home page
    • Make note of this value as you'll need it for the nOps integration
  3. Create an API Key

    • Navigate to Account > API keys & tokens
    • Click on Create API Key
    • Provide a friendly name (e.g., "nOps Integration")
    • Select "Standard" for the Key Type
    • Click Create API Key
  4. Save Your Credentials

    • After creation, you'll see your API Key SID and API Secret
    • You'll need both the Account SID and API Secret for the nOps integration
caution

The API Secret will only be displayed once. If you lose it, you'll need to create a new API key.

Step 2: Configure Integration in nOps

Now that you have your Twilio credentials, you can configure the integration in nOps:

  1. Navigate to Twilio Integration

  2. Enter Twilio Credentials

    • Enter your Twilio Account SID
    • Enter your Twilio API Key ID
    • Enter your Twilio API Secret
  3. Save Configuration

    • Click the Connect button to save your configuration and initiate the integration

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Twilio integration, check the following:

  1. Invalid Credentials

    • Ensure your Account SID and API Secret are entered correctly
    • Verify that your API key is active in the Twilio Console
  2. Permission Issues

    • Make sure the API key has the necessary permissions to access billing data
    • Standard API keys should have sufficient permissions by default
  3. No Data Appearing

    • Allow up to 24 hours for the initial data sync to complete
    • Verify that you have billable usage in your Twilio account

Managing Multiple Twilio Accounts

If you have multiple Twilio accounts, you can integrate each one separately:

  1. Complete the integration process for your first Twilio account
  2. Return to the Business Context Integrations page
  3. Click on the Twilio integration card again
  4. Click the "Add New Integration" button
  5. Follow the same steps to configure the integration with your additional Twilio account credentials

Each integration will appear as a separate entry in the integrations list, and the data will be properly segregated in the Cost Analysis tool.

Next Steps

Once your Twilio integration is set up and data is flowing into nOps, you can:

  • Create custom dashboards to visualize your Twilio costs
  • Set up cost allocation rules to attribute Twilio expenses to specific business units
  • Configure alerts for unusual spending patterns
  • Analyze trends to optimize your Twilio usage and reduce costs

For more information on these features, refer to the general Business Context+ documentation.
