JIRA Integration

Integrate Jira with nOps in just a few clicks using OAuth 2.0.

Key features

  • OAuth 2.0 one-click setup – connect without copying URLs or project keys.
  • Org-wide connection – exactly one Jira workspace can be connected per nOps organization. All users share the link.
  • No admin role required – once connected, any nOps user can create Jira tickets.
  • Rich context – created tickets automatically include the nOps report URL in the description.
note

The Jira card in **Organization Settings → Integrations → Notifications → Jira** shows the current connection status:

  • Connected – green dot
  • Not Connected – gray dot

Connect Jira to nOps

  1. In nOps, open **Organization Settings → Integrations → Notifications → Jira**.
  2. Click the Jira card.
  3. In the side-panel modal, press Connect Jira.
  4. Complete the Atlassian OAuth consent screen that opens in a new tab/window.
  5. Return to nOps. If the status card still shows Not Connected, press Refresh Status.

That's it! The card should now display a green Connected indicator.

Creating Jira tickets

Once your organization is connected you can raise Jira tickets directly from nOps insights.

From Inform → Explorer Page

  1. Open Explorer Page
  2. Click the blue paper-plane Jira icon.
  3. Confirm the pre-filled information and click Create.

FAQ

Expand FAQs

1. How does the Jira integration with nOps work?

The integration connects to your Jira workspace using OAuth 2.0. After the one-time authorization, nOps can create Jira issues via Atlassian APIs and attach rich context (resource details and nOps report URL) to each ticket.

During the consent flow, nOps requests minimal scopes required to read project metadata and create issues in your Jira workspace. nOps never deletes or modifies existing issues.

3. Can I connect multiple Jira workspaces?

Not right now. An nOps organization can be linked to one Jira workspace at a time. To switch workspaces, disconnect the current one in Settings → Integrations → Notifications → Jira and reconnect a different workspace.

4. Do I need admin rights in Jira to create tickets?

No. Only the user who performs the initial connection must have permission to authorize the app. After that, any nOps user with access to a resource can create tickets in the connected workspace.

5. Where are the tickets created in Jira?

Tickets are created in the default project selected during the OAuth process. You can change the target project directly in the ticket-creation modal before submission.
